Overriding Data Contexts for Shared Packets and Batches

When a Report Gateway user accesses a packet or batch that has been shared with them, the packet or batch uses the data context that the original creator configured by default. However, users with shared access can override this data context with a different one.

Note

Packets and batches can be shared by the owner or an authorization admin on the Packet settings or Batch settings pages, by changing the Access field to either Shared, editable or Shared, run-only. Authorization administrators can also manage shared access on the Bundle security page.

To override the data context in a shared packet or batch, follow these steps:

1.         Open the packet or batch that you want to run, either from the Home page or the Recent items page.

2.         Click the Data context overrides () icon at the top of the page.

3.         In the Data context overrides drawer, update the data context fields that have been selected for the reports making up the packet or batch. If you want to apply a data context to all of the reports in a single application at once, you can update the fields for one of the reports and then click Apply to [Application] to apply that data context to all reports that share the same application, such as Property Management X.

4.         Click Save.

Note

Data context overrides are saved separately from the packet or batch, so your overrides do not affect the data context for any other users running the shared packet or batch.

Troubleshooting

If your chosen data context is not compatible with the packet or batch, or if you lack access to any part of the chosen data context, an error banner appears at the top of the packet or batch screen and the Data context overrides drawer. If the banner includes a More info button, you can click it to see more details about the issue.
