Managing Packet Settings

On the Packet settings page, the packet owner or an authorization admin can update certain packet settings.

Note

Only the owner of the packet or an authorization admin can edit any settings on this page. Other users can view the information on this page, but cannot edit it.

By default, the owner of a packet is the user who created it. Ownership can only be changed by an authorization admin on the Bundle security page.

To access the Packet settings page for a packet, follow these steps:

1.         Click the packet that you want to run from one of the following locations:

The Home page in Report Gateway. Find a packet on the Favorites or Packets tab by scrolling through the list or typing in the Find in packets search field.

The Recent items page in Report Gateway, by clicking Edit.

The Manage Packet page appears. The contents of the packet are listed on the left.

2.         Click the ellipses at the top of the Packet contents area.

3.         Click Packet settings.

4.         On the Packet settings page, review or update the information in the following fields:

Packet ID—The ID assigned to the packet.

Packet name—The name given to the packet. Enter new text to change the packet name.

Tags—A list of tags applied to the packet to help categorize it. To add a tag, click the field to show a drop-down list of existing tags, or enter your own tag manually.

Access—The current access setting of the packet. By default, new packets are set to Private. To change this setting, click Convert to shared packet. The following access settings are available:

Private—The packet can only be seen and run by the user who created it.

Shared, editable—The packet has been shared with other users, and those users are able to modify the packet by adding, editing, removing, and reordering reports and PDFs.

Shared, run-only—The packet has been shared with other users, but those users cannot modify the packet and can only generate it as it was saved.

Caution

Changing access settings may cause some users to lose access to the packet. If a user's access to a packet is revoked, their scheduled instances of the packet will not run.

Lock packet parameters—This option is only available when the packet is set to Shared, run-only. When this option is set to On, users cannot modify any values in the Packet parameters section of the packet. When this option is set to Off, any user can modify the value in a packet parameter before running the packet. Other users cannot modify the packet parameter itself, only the value of the packet parameter.

Ownership—The current owner of the packet. By default, this is the creator of the packet. Ownership can only be changed by an authorization admin on the Bundle security page.
